I picked up the parts today at Home Depot in Chaska, MN. Home Depot staff chopped up the 2x6 for me at the store. I already had the motor, battery, and wire on hand.
I discovered that the 3D model I made for the steel brackets was wrong, so all of the holes are a little wonky. It took me all afternoon to make the first version. Lot's of time trying to find my tools, etc. I did a terrible job drilling holes in the PVC arm. I need to make a jig for it to get it right. Glueing the PVC was also a lot more trouble than expected. Obviously all of the stuff needs to be more carefully cleaned and deburred. This prototype was not quite up to FDA standards, I think, probably.
But, the prototype seemed to work as expected. (See 1 minute video of the action.) I will have to update the 3D model with new brackets. Then I can make pdf files for all of the parts, showing proper drill locations, etc.
